Power user tips to get the most from UDA Pulse
On first launch, UDA Pulse walks you through a quick 4-question Setup Wizard. It takes under 60 seconds and tailors the entire app to your working pattern.
Search "UDA Pulse" on the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android). Download and open the app.
The Setup Wizard's first question: are you NHS, Mixed, or Private? Your answer shapes your entire dashboard — NHS shows a UDA ring, Private shows an income ring, Mixed shows both. You can change this later in Settings.
The wizard adapts to your practice type. NHS and Mixed users enter their annual UDA target; Private users set an income target. UDA Pulse calculates daily targets automatically.
Tell the app how many days per week you work. This ensures your daily target is accurate and your pace alerts are meaningful.
Enter your main practice name. A hint here reminds you that multi-practice support is available in Premium — you can add more practices later from Settings.
Tap the Add (+) tab at the bottom. Select a band (e.g., Band 1), tap Submit, and your dashboard updates instantly. Prefer to log multiple treatments at once? Use the End of Day button on your dashboard for batch entry.
Import your UK bank holidays straight away! Go to Settings → Features → Holidays and tap "Import Bank Holidays". Your daily targets will automatically adjust around holidays.
UDA Pulse uses a 5-tab navigation bar at the bottom of the screen:
The Home tab is your command centre. It adapts to your practice type and shows exactly what matters most. The progress ring animates smoothly with a spring effect whenever values change.
The central ring adapts to your practice type set during the Setup Wizard:
Blue UDA ring showing today's UDAs vs your daily target
Green income ring showing today's income vs your daily income target
Stacked dual rings showing both NHS UDAs and private income simultaneously
Below the progress ring, the pace alert tells you exactly how many UDAs per day you need to hit your annual target. If you're tracking behind, a clawback risk card appears showing your projected year-end shortfall and estimated ยฃ at risk. It automatically accounts for:
If you have 8,000 UDAs remaining and 200 working days left, your pace alert shows 40 UDAs/day. Take a week's holiday? It recalculates to 42.1 UDAs/day. It's always up to date.
A list of everything you've logged today — tap any entry to edit it, or swipe left to delete. Each entry shows the time, treatment type, band/category, and value. Below the entry list, tap "End of Day" to open the batch entry stepper and log multiple treatments at once.
Quick summary cards show your week's UDAs, income, and days worked, plus a monthly overview. Tap "More details" to expand secondary stats, or tap again to collapse and keep the view clean. Pull down to refresh at any time.
UDA Pulse celebrates your achievements with toast notifications — your first entry, reaching 100 UDAs, completing a streak, hitting a monthly target, and more. Haptic feedback across the app gives a satisfying tactile response to every action.
New users (fewer than 2 months of data) see helpful prompt cards on the dashboard — for example, a nudge to import historical data. These disappear once you're familiar with the app. For a full guided tour of all features, go to Settings → Help & About → Feature Guide.
Want a refresher on any feature? Open the Feature Guide from Settings → Help & About. It's scrollable, shows only the features relevant to your tier, and includes navigation buttons to jump to any section.
Tap the Add (+) tab to open the Quick Add screen. There are four entry types, each on its own tab. The April 2026 NHS contract is the default — legacy mode is available in Settings if your contract hasn't been updated yet.
Select your NHS band (1, 2a, 2b, 2c, 3, or Urgent). UDA value is calculated automatically. Tap Submit to save, then optionally add details (patient initials, notes, FP17 number, chair time).
Log Regulation 11 work: denture repairs, bridge repairs, replacements, and other categories. Quick select-then-submit entry.
12+ treatment categories with subtypes (e.g., Crown → eMax, Zirconia). Toggle between Quick mode (amount only — one tap) and Detailed mode (teeth treated, price, payment status, notes).
Log failed-to-attend appointments with estimated lost value and slot duration. Track whether the slot was filled.
Prefer to log everything at the end of your session? Tap "End of Day" on the dashboard to open the batch entry stepper. Work through each treatment type with a clean stepper UI — enter counts and amounts, then submit them all at once.
UDA Pulse automatically learns your most-used treatments and shows them as one-tap buttons at the top of the Add screen. The more you use a treatment, the higher it ranks. No setup needed — it just works.
For private treatments, track payment status:
When you set a payment due date for partial or plan payments, UDA Pulse sends you a push notification at 9 AM on the due date so you never miss a follow-up.
Made a mistake? After saving an entry, a 5-second undo bar appears at the bottom of the screen. Tap "Undo" to remove it instantly.
The April 2026 NHS contract is the default in UDA Pulse. If your contract hasn't been updated yet, you can switch to legacy mode in Settings → More → NHS Contract.
